This thematic area is developing an operational method for mapping various components of the floral biodiversity of Amazonian forests using indicators derived from data processed by the Sentinel-2 satellites of the COPERNICUS Earth observation programme, deployed and operated by the European Commission with the support of the European Space Agency.
Biodiversity indicators include:
. the local dimension of biodiversity (diversity α, identified indicator: Shannon index)
. the spatial distribution of species communities along physical or environmental spatial gradients (β-diversity, identified indicator: Bray-Curtis dissimilarity).
